This is a story of a tiny yoga studio that held up to 12 yoga practitioners who has grown up into a flourishing international community of people looking to grow and share with one another the amazing practices of yoga!
Today a thriving community, AYP is one of the most respected and authentic yoga schools in France. Hosting some of the most senior teachers in the world of Ashtanga, offering intensives and teacher trainings where people come from all over the world to attend. With over 300 square meters divided into 3 yoga rooms we can offer high quality teaching for all levels of yoga practitioners in Ashtanga (including daily Mysore style), Vinyasa and Restorative yoga!
How it all began… Gérald Disse started his yoga journey in 1989 and Linda Munro in 1995. Their paths crossed several times despite living in different parts of the world; thanks to the magic of the Ashtanga worldwide community. Being passionate and sincere practitioners of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, they were enthusiastic to share this beautiful practice with others!
Gerald started teaching in 1996 and Linda in 2002.
Linda, with the help of friends and yoga students, founded Ashtanga Yoga Paris in a luminous atelier overlooking a lush rose garden. The first AYP yoga class was on February 14, 2004. Gerald was living and teaching in Auroville, South India but after being out of France for 17 years, he decided to move to Paris to continue to develop yoga in this beautiful city and also to marry and have a family with Linda.
They are grateful to have an amazing team who are kind, generous and certainly skilled yoga teachers! Every year they are honored to train qualified yoga teachers and lead them on the path of personal growth.
Our mission, at AYP, is to share the practices of Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Restorative yoga with intelligence, friendliness, patience and kindness.
