Hips Hooray – Flowing Movements to Open the Hips

When we open our hip joints and hamstrings we free our spine; allowing more movement overall.  We’ll approach this workshop as a flowing practice to heat the body to allow the muscles to dissolve into the movements focusing on sitting forward bends and hip opening postures from the Ashtanga system and more!  These poses bring introspection.

Back Bending for All Backs

A healthy spine is one that is mobile and stable.  In our daily life, we don’t have many opportunities to bend the back backwards so in this workshop we will focus on doing this.  Back bending stimulates the nervous system – both the subtle nerves (nadis) and the central nervous system – bringing us positive energy when done with mindfulness and humility.  It also strengthens the whole line of back muscles and lengthens the whole line of front muscles, giving us room to breathe fully and deeply while strengthening and stabilizing.  These poses help us feel happy and free.
