Weekend of Yoga
with Annie Carpenter

May 29 – 31, 2026

Ashtanga Yoga Paris is happy to host Annie for the first time in Paris! She is an iconic teacher in the world of yoga for her decades of devotion to yoga!

SmartFlow Yoga: The Obstacles – Reveal and Release

Known as a “teachers’ teacher,” Annie Carpenter consistently inspires all of those who pursue the path of yoga through her all-levels asana classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. For her, the focus is on alignment. With a background in anatomy, kinesiology and dance, it’s no wonder she created a yoga style of discipline and body intelligence. Her SmartFLOW yoga classes are informed by the body’s structure and evolution. Combined with her impeccable and creative sequencing, students can expect to deepen their asana awareness. With her playful spirit, Annie encourages her students to take a light, joyful exploration into the yoga practice and into themselves.

Join Annie for a weekend of depth and clarity, precision and acceptance. This weekend will be a mix of essential Asana -focus through the lens of the Kleshas—the 5 obstacles that each of us creates and sustains but can learn to break through.

Program

FRIDAY, MAY 29th
18:30 – 20:30
  Deep Hip Work & Release
A potent mix of strong Hip work and release, designed to uncover your imbalances and bring more symmetry and support where needed. We’ll move the hips in all directions while stabilizing the pelvic bowl and low back connection.

SATURDAY, MAY 30th
10:00 – 12:00
  Twisting for Life
Ah, Twists: beloved and dreaded. Your truth—which changes over time – has everything to do about making maximum space in the spine, especially as the curves shift. We’ll look at manner of twists: seated, standing and inverted, seeking our own current truth and possibility.

13:30 – 16:30  Push and Pull – Inversions
This strong workshop is for teachers and experienced students. Active and Healthy Shoulders connect us to what we want and help us push away the rest. Multiple Inversions with full range of motion, and its needed support, bring us face to face with the ongoing Balancing Act between Desire and Fear. Propping and modifications will be included.

SUNDAY, MAY 31st
10:00 – 12:30
The Enduring Mountain: Tadasana, True Core, and Making Peace with the last Breath
Asana, Pranayama and Philosophy. Join Annie for this complete SmartFlow Yoga Practice. This class embraces all aspects of yoga and brings us to full experience of what Yoga is and a clear sense of Self. Physically and emotionally, we’ll find what support really means; with our breathing we’ll play the edge. Woven throughout is classic Yogic philosophy, uniting the practice into a feeling of wholeness and peace.

Annie has been practicing Yoga for over 40 years. It continues to be a source of steadiness, depth and joy in her life. Annie has taught movement, dance, anatomy, and lead movement rituals for many years; she’s been teaching Yoga for over 30 years. Having spent long periods practicing and studying Integral, Iyengar and Ashtanga Yoga, Annie believes that there are many wonderful approaches to practice—we all will find just what we need as our lives and bodies evolve. The commitment TO practice is the essence; WHAT we practice will expand and mature.

Annie created her school, SmartFlow Yoga, 15 years ago. It is a modern approach with an anatomically sound foundation, inspired creative sequencing and ground in the essence of Yogic and Buddhist philosophies. Annie is committed to mindfulness, which inevitably leads to spiritual development and light-heartedness.
